“Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead” is yet another victim of leftist Hollywood

For me, talking politics is quite tricky. In this day and age, people who you love and even care for will turn on you if you voice your political opinion.

It is quite sad. Instead of standing up together and making change, it's about pissing on one another and forcing ideology on people who just want to be entertained. Unfortunately, entertainment must take a back seat once again as we are given another remake, one that race swaps the original characters to fit modern narratives.

Do buckle up, here comes another one.

On Wednesday, the first teaser for "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" debuted, a reimagining (makes my stomach turn) of the 1991 film of the same name. The R-rated comedy is written by Chuck Hayward (Ted Lasso, WandaVision) and directed by Wade Allain-Marcus.

Simone Joy Jones takes on the role previously played by Christina Applegate.

The cast also includes Nicole Richie, June Squibb, Donielle Tremaine Hensley, Jermaine Fowler and Ms. Pat, plus newcomers Miles Fowler, Iantha Richardson, Gus Kenworthy and Tyriq Withers.

According to a synopsis, Jones plays Tanya Crandell, a 17 year old who "can’t wait to spend the summer living it up with her friends in Spain before heading to Howard University in the fall."

"But when her mom decides to head to a much-needed wellness retreat in Thailand, Tanya is forced to stay home with her three siblings instead. Following the unexpected death of their elderly babysitter (played by June Squibb), Tanya gets a job working for the confident and ambitious Rose (Richie)."

"Juggling work, family and a complicated romance, Tanya faces the responsibility of adulthood at the cost of her summer of freedom," the synopsis adds.

I could've copied and pasted the synopsis from the original film, but I decided to be fair.

Here is the clincher.

Tyra Banks, via her company SMiZE Productions, is among the executive producers on their film, which is made in partnership with BET+’s Original Films.

Original?!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

I didn't think I would laugh, but it's a miracle.

Like I had said dozens of times before, there has been some remakes and reimaginings that have worked, but I can see the writing on the wall with this one. In the current age of Hollywood, there are no more original thinkers and or writers. it is much easier to take a past product, replace characters, and call it a day. For me if somebody came up to me and said hey you wanna do this remake I would flat out tell them go fuck yourself.

Why?

Because basically it is like going behind someone at a buffet after they have eaten all the good food and what you have left is to lick the plate that they left behind.

To me, I remember the original film, had a great cast and also soundtrack. Could this movie be as good as the original? No, it sure as hell won't be.

My dad and mom gave me some great advice a long time ago when I started to become a writer. They told me come up with your own characters and your own ideas, that way you can be original and not just just writing somebody else's story.

Hollywood is proven that they're not going to change anytime soon as they can just write off a failure as a tax deduction. Anybody out there that wants to go see this movie be my guest, however, I think I'll sit this one out or at least take a Dramamine and a shot of tequila before the opening credits start to roll.

We shall see...we shall see.
