One of the true legends of Hollywood is getting ready to star in what is being described as a soft reboot of the classic action film "Cliffhanger".
In 1993, Stallone appeared in the often-overlooked action thriller, which grossed $255 million worldwide. Directed by Renny Harlin, the film is based on a concept by climber John Long and follows Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Walker, a mountain climber, who gets involved in a heist of a U.S. treasury plane flying through the Rocky Mountains.
Three decades later, the Rambo star is set to star in the sequel of the movie although it was initially reported to be a reboot by Deadline. Ric Roman Waugh (Angel Has Fallen) will direct the movie from a script by Mark Bianculli (Hunters). In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Stallone revealed his reason for agreeing to do the sequel, saying:
“And the script was fantastic. I was actually truly impressed. It’s very hard to, I mean, I read it all, so to be impressed.”
Sylvester Stallone also said that he will not be hanging from too many peaks for the movie because he is a father now and his age does not permit that kind of action anymore. However, fans can expect the movie to be as thrilling as the original one.
